Lemonade Twist

Lemonade is a drink to keep you cool in hot weather. I remember in Pakistan during summers when we went shopping it was a must to have lemonade more commonly known as niboo pani in Pakistan. It’s amazing how it works to beat the heat of Karachi and refreshes the mind. An amazing drink to have always ready in the fridge during the hot seasons. I love lemonade and this is the reason I made this recipe with almost all my favourite ingredients; you could add a bit of fizz by using sparkling water or sprite when serving guests. When drinking this lemonade to help you lose weight don’t add any of the fizzy fluids that won’t help the loss of weight, rather it will aid to gain of it. Drink on empty stomach every day for 6 months to see the difference don’t expect the change in a week. There are no shortcuts, anything you do in a rush never helps; be patient with your body and mind to be programmed again. Everything takes time in life. Also, to lose weight you need to exercise and eat a balanced diet. Also don’t have it with sugar if you are trying to lose weight have it with honey.

Lemons are amazing to add flavour in any dish but also have a lot of medicinal value to them. It’s a fruit with a tangy taste loaded with vitamin C and fibre. For all the weight conscious people it has a plus for them it helps to lose weight but what a lot of people might not know is it’s great for the heart too. It also helps prevent kidney stones and it also helps with digestion.

Mint leaves are great to give your brain a boost to work better. It is a great source of rich nutrients especially vitamin A and antioxidants. It may improve irritable bowel movements and helps in the relief of indigestion. It's great if you have painful breastfeeding times it also decreases the pain for nursing mothers. The list of benefits is amazing and a little bit of mint I find is the best; it keeps the skin very moisturised, clean and keeps the breath fresh.

Cumin seeds are very beneficial, and it promotes weight loss but more importantly it helps to control blood cholesterol. There are so many benefits of cumin known as zeera in the Indian spices it’ll be hard to list all but here are a few : it helps fight inflammation, helps with digestion, helps reduce the signs of narcotic addiction, helps with diabetes, its an antioxidant that free radicals, it’s a rich source of iron one teaspoon cumin can provide 20 % of your daily intake.

I became a big fan of ginger during one of my pregnancies. It helped me with my nausea and vomiting, since then almost 15 years ago I used it more in my food. As the time passed, I found out so many more benefits that it was hard to let go off the root. Plus it tastes good and adds to the flavour to any drink or curry. A few of its benefits its benefits are that it lowers the risk of cancer, prevents heart disease studies show, it helps settle upset stomach, it’s an anti-inflammatory and great for strengthening of bones, most natural way to relieve period pain, reduces the risk of diabetes and of course it helps to lose weight.

I’m always amazed at how we have all the medicines in our kitchen cabinets but since we don’t know the exact benefits, we undermine its potential. We are now living in times where we have less time to spend in kitchens and more time on the gadgets and we don’t really want to work slowly enjoying the smells and tastes. We would rather use pharmacy medicines because they give fast relief even though they are less beneficial in the long run with potential side effects. Spices don’t have side effects and can enhance the flavours of your food to help you enjoy a variety of foods.

I have made this lemonade quite often during the hot season and enjoyed it with family and friends on BBQ’s and picnics. I hope you will enjoy it in good health. Much love and God bless.
